Virginia Beach Hotels Come Clean

11 June, 2010

If the oil spill follows the path that researchers have laid out for it, it could reach Virginia beaches before everything is said and done. If you are headed to the East Coast this summer, be sure to do some homework and stay at a hotel that promises to be cleaner than the beach.

Virginia Beach’s Hotel Task Force conducts annual inspections of the cities hotels and motels. The team consists of staff from the fire marshall’s office, code enforcement, and the health department. Inspections start in January and go through Memorial Day, right before the summer holidays kick off.

This year’s inspection showed that while the vast majority of beach hotels are clean, a few had more than 10 sanitation violations, which ranged from dirty sheets to mold and pests. Two of the dirtiest hotels have been chosen by TripAdvisor.com users among the top 10 dirtiest hotels.

This year, cleanliness along beach front hotels will be paramount, because you may be spending time indoors watching shows about the ocean on DISH Network rather than swimming in one.
