Virginia Fugitive Captured in California

4 June, 2010

Virginia renegade Paul H. Clouston, convicted child molester and cop-killer, was arrested in California after a 5 year hiatus from registering as a sex offender with the Virginia State Police. Clouston was added to the Marshals Service's list of 15 most-wanted fugitives on November 30, 2006.

Kevin Connolly, supervisory inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service's Fugitive Task Force in Richmond, said that his office received a tip from America's Most Wanted, which is aired by Fox on DISH Network. A viewer reported that Clouston had been living and working under the table as a maintenance man at a group home for the needy in Merced, California, for the past four years.

Clouston has a 50 year cross-country criminal career that includes the 1972 murder of police detective in California and convictions for abduction, aggravated sexual battery, and sodomy for assaulting juveniles in James City County.
