A 29-year-old Virginia woman masqueraded as an FBI agent and recruited her neighbors to be her assistants.
Brenna Reilly of Arlington was indicted by a federal grand jury in Alexandria last week, charged with impersonation of an FBI agent.
Reilly advised neighbors in her apartment complex that she was the FBI’s director of forensics. Two of her neighbors agreed to work as Reilly’s assistants and provided her with confidential personal information, such as their social security numbers, on fake job applications.
Her assistants were given tasks that included writing condolence letters to family members of agents killed in the line of duty.
According to authorities, Reilly never was an FBI agent. Her lawyer declined comment.
